Today's fire departments and fire fighters are asked to do more and know more than ever before. There are more alarms to respond to and the chance of catastrophic
incidents is greater. At the same time, staffing and budgets for training, prevention and equipment are constantly being challenged.
The Georgia Mutual Aid Group (GMAG) is a network of Georgia's fire departments. Sharing their collective resources to provide a higher level of service for their communities than they could alone. Everyday administrative, operational, planning and logistical issues benefit from the joint procedures, specification writing, and purchasing power provided to GMAG members.
When disasters strike, the GMAG network of fire departments can provide support with numerous fire companies or units and hundreds of trained fire fighters, anywhere in the state within a few hours.
GMAG works through the active involvement of member fire departments represented by their chiefs. Upon joining, chiefs automatically become members of the GMAG Board of Directors. The Board annually selects a five-member Executive Board to lead the organization. An Executive Director assists with the administrative duties of the group, while Area teams work on Administrative, Operational, and Logistical projects, as well as respond to emergencies.
GMAG offers several membership packages for emergency service organizations, corporate, and private supporters. View or download the information you need or, contact Bill Lewis; Executive Director, about becoming a GMAG member.
